Updating wheels on a SE6
Discussion
I am contemplating purchasing a SE6 to become a rolling project. I've always had a hankering for one and with a Midas/ kit car background, the thought of a grown up car appeals.
The question that I have tried to find an answer to relates to upgrading the wheels to 17" or their abouts.
With the mix of parts is it possible to get something with the correct stud pattern and offset or will it mean spacers and studs or machining of parts etc
my first post on here so go gentle on me

Hi, The PCD or pitch circle diameter for Scimitars is easy as its 4 x 4.5 inches or 114.3mm so that's is a common Japanese size and also used on MGB's
The offset is the real problem as most Japanese run anything from ET - 35 to 50 (especially FWD models)and if I remember correctly Scimitars are + ET 105.
I know of a Middlebridge owner who has 8"J x 17" Image BMA wheels with 225/50 x 17" tyres fitted but they were made to order to suit the car and rather nice if a tad expensive.
Middlebridge GTE's use 15"rims with 196 65 x 15" which look very nice and although not 17" will maybe a better bet as Scimitars are old school and usually run on 185/80 x 14" 6J so low profile tyres (even 195/70's or 205/60's)are going to hurt the ride but look fantastic!
Before looking at any s/h wheels you need to do some measurements as to how much room there is the from the hub inwards to the suspension? how much depth do you need to clear the calipers? and how much clearance on the outside with regards to the wheel arch etc? Armed with those figures may help you make a calculated guess or maybe you can try a wheel on the Scimitar to check.
Happy hunting
