RSSOC Sporting weekend Curbrough Sprint Nr Lichfield
Discussion
This years Curborough RSSOC National Sporting Weekend will be held over the long weekend of the 12th to the 15th August 2010
Thursday 12th -
Today is reserved for the first test day so all the competitors for the weekend can get the feel of the track and can give their cars a final test before the real sprinting begins!!
The campsite opens today for the ‘early birds’ and the site begins to take shape with a small army of volunteers setting out camping pitches, sorting out the toilets and showers and making sure the marquee is ready
Friday 13th -
Today is the first proper day of the sporting weekend when everyone begins to arrive ‘en masse’.
Once your camp is set up there’s loads of time to catch up with old friends (or make some new ones) before heading into the marquee for the all new quiz night run by the Berkshire Noggin (and it’s press-ganged outlying noggineers) with all the usual fun and frolics.
Saturday 14th -
Today brings more track action where the hallowed tarmac is taken up during the morning with the final test runs and then in the afternoon the fun begins with the autotest taking place where you get to see just how skillful a driver you really are. It’s a hugely entertaining event and one where the youngsters can show off a little too!
Saturday night brings us back into the marquee for an evening of superb live music courtesy of our own house band, the Trunnion Bashers. Those daft enough will be donning fancy dress for this night of singing and dancing, this years theme is ‘Super Heroes’ so get your thinking caps on for that show stealing fancy dress outfit.
Sunday 15th -
Sunday brings about the hard core sprinting with Scimitars of all shapes and sizes (including turbos and supercharged versions) competing against each other. To make it even more interesting, there are loads of other car marquees sprinting too, including Westfields, Ferraris and a wide variety of classic sports cars.
At the end of the day we have the prize giving for all the sporting competitors who’ve given us lots of entertainment throughout the weekend. All that remains then is to break camp, say some fond farewells and begin planning for Curborough 2011!!!
This years special events
In 2010, we celebrate a couple of very important anniversaries. We will be making a bug fuss of the Scimitar GT Coupe’s and the GTC’s who celebrate their 45th and 30th birthdays respectively.
Like last year, we will do our best to have as many Coupes as possible at Curborough so we can have a few nice piccies and maybe even another parade lap (we do love them)

As the GTC reaches the ripe old age of 30 years old this year, Steve Cork will be attempting to gather as many GTC’s together as is possible. So, if you have a GTC, bring it along, it doesn’t matter if it’s not a show winner, we just want to make this gathering as impressive as possible
