Hi everyone,
I purchased Furyblades_lee Scimitar a month or so ago and am loving the car to bits. However there does seem to be an issue with it that I was hoping somebody might have the answer too.
The car is expelling some vapour and water from the exhausts, it does not get any better or worse as the car warms up and the car does not overheat, (although it does have a new radiator and stainless cooling pipes which probably helps) I do not seem to be losing any water from the header tank and it does not have any oil in it. I checked the engine oil and this looks to be okay, again no loss, greying or mayonnaise. The spark plugs were also in excellent condition. The oil pressure is healthy and the car drives very well. The only known issues that I have with the car at the moment are a leaky carb (soon to be replaced), a rather tired exhaust system that is also up for renewal and a heater that that will need further investigation as the controls are jammed on and it only blows cold air.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Richard

If you are whipping the carb off then I suggest to change the inlet manifold gasket at the same time. If not set and torqued correctly it can weep from the water bits to the exhaust bits giving a bit of white smoke out the back. The water channels on the gasket are reinforced with a copper surround, this can wander and allow the leak. This is a common problem on Essex engines.
Maybe for now, check the torque on it (around 20 IIRC). If you do replace then torque it carefully and re torque occasionaly for the first few months
