Thanks guys for all your replies re: my questions on various subjects! Regrettably I have decided to put my Scim up for sale, because I do not want to do any half-baked measures to rectify the paint blistering. With several other cars and my R1 car needing a new crank, I cannot justify right now the money for a 100% proper job. The rest of the car I have got to a nice stage, drives beautifully, but I am a fussy stickler and think the car deserves better. It us up for a fair price I feel, and I hope it goes to an entusiastic Scimitar PH'er hence the heads up! I have purposely put up no link so as not to upset the moderators.

Shame you have decide to sell it. I think you have undervalued it a bit or even a lot wink I would say £1500 is a more reasonable figure. Having micro blisters is not the end of the world. Pretty much any Scimitar at that sort of price will either have stress cracks or blistering to some degree.

Yeah I know. I am just a bit depressed about it really, to be honest I got the car fairly cheap from a company that puts cars on TV and in Movies, (the car will be in an episode of Lewis this March on TV, used as a murderers car), and have enjoyed owning and fettling it. If it does not sell quickly I will either have second thoughts and store it, or revise the price and advertise it properly in the rags and try to get a lot more. I had 5 interested parties via PH email this morning, one from France. My biggest problem is I could only afford / justify a cheap(ish) respray at the moment and I know this is not what the car needs. The way I see it I rescued it from meeting a nasty end in a dodgy film and finishing up a static car for background shots, unable to be driven. I would just like the car to be around in another 38 years!!!

Depends what you mean by cheapish. If you stripped the car yourself then I know a very good fibreglass guy who quoted me £2K to do mine. That included stripping the thing down. So I imagine it would be considerably cheaper to do a stripped car. The main thing though is the condition of the gel coat underneath. The problem is you cant tell that until you have stripped it.

The car is sold.... the fastest car I have ever sold! Good news is it has gone to a real Scimitar enthusiast, who had to sell his a few years back and has regretted it ever since. I am sure he will do it the justice it deserves. Thanks everyone.
