I have not had any scimitars for about 14 years but have just bought another one as a project (SE5 I think). It came off ebay but has no no.plates or V5 bit the vin plate is on it and gives a 6 figure chassis number . Does anyone know how to identify the age or even the car from this ? any help much appreciated , thanks , David

Hi David,

Just to add to what platicpig wrote:

Your car is an SE5:

1968 450001 - 450101
1969 450102 - 450740
1970 450741 - 451734

You car is an SE5a:

1971 (Oct) 451735 - 452821
1972 452822 - 454311
1972 93x1001 - 93x1601
1973 93x1602 - 93x3721
1974 93x3722 - 93x5909
1975 93x5910 - 93x6615

It may be worth contacting the Scimitar GTE registrar (and chairman) of the Reliant Sabre and Scimitar Owners Club to see if he can match your chassis number with a registration number (if it is in his records), then you could send off for a V5.

Contact Jim King: gte.registrar@rssoc.co.uk

All the best
