Whilst I was removing the fuse box from the car I have noticed the G/F is split around the N/S/F turret mount.
Probably due to climbing all over the nose cone whilst working on it.
How serious a problem is it & how difficult is it to cure the crack?
I will post up pictures later on tonight.
Thanks in advance

They all do that sir.
Mostly due to the weight of the battery; it's worth fixing, otherwise your groovy new paintjob will start to go through in stress cracks around the wheelarch on that side.
No real science to it, just make sure that the body doesn't drop as you're cutting all the damaged GRP away; and key the repair to the old material very thoroughly.
If you can be bothered then investing in a lightweight gel battery and locating it in one of the toolwells in the boot will address the cause of the problem - a few metres of arc welder cable will be easier than battery cable - and will help the weight distribution, too.
