Scimitar front uprights
Discussion
Hi, I'm looking for some detail about the front uprights used on Scimitar cars.
Firstly did all the cars use the same upright? Secondly did any of them use the Triumph TR6 upright? and lastly what are castor angles for each car including, if different, power or manual steering?
My reason for wanting to know: I'm writing an article for the TVR car club magazine about the history of the Alford and Alder upright used by Truimph post-war upto the mid-seventies. In its various guises it was used on many TVRs and I am interested to learn which other manufacturers did also.
Thanks for any help, Colin.

So far as I know there are only two front suspension layouts on Scimitars, from the earliest SE4 Coupe to the Middlebridge; all use the same TR4/5/6 upright with a different trunnion giving more castor on the PAS SE6, 6a, b, c and Middlebridge. Late SE5a and all SE6 cars used a heavier stub axle, but still the same upright.
Upper wishbones are Scimitar-specific but lower ones are TR cast items.
I'm not sure though, so I'll ask Jim King over the weekend - alternatively you might find an answer in (the late) Don Pither's 'The Scimitar and its Forebears'.
