Hello all, just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Dave Towers and I live in Brixham Devon. Just bought a SE6A manual/overdrive, pas, and I hate the bloody thing already!
Only paid £350 for it - and then the bloke went and bought it a new battery! But... It needs welding - my least favourite thing (after wiring) and wiring.
Spent a large portion of today welding the drivers side outrigger and cill, then welded up the bonnet hinge (it was a bit snapped in half!) then sussed that the water leak wasn't, as I was told, the radiator, but somewhere on the block itself. Core plug - bollox!
Never mind, I checked the other cill and discovered that the other front outrigger was as much fibreglass as the bodywork - teach me to check more carefully!
My reason for buying it though is simple - sick to death of modern cars! Had a couple of Scimitars in the 80's and 90's, but life gets in the way and "suggests" (sometimes quite loudly!) that a practical modern car is the order of the day.
However, in the last year my very exciting(?) Vauxhall has done just 1800 miles - so a classic is once again a practical proposition. And from there, there was no other choice than another Scimitar (well maybe a Rover P6 V8).
Sorry to have rambled on, Dave.
