Hot Air

Morning chaps,

Had occasion to turn on the hot air this week, and now it won't disable (well, as of this morning) so even with the fan turned off, hot air is getting forced into the footwell (at speed) - the heat selector knob is obviously a mechanical device so presumably it's just opening and closing a flap/vent somewhere either behind the console or in the engine bay - anyone know if this is going to be a real pain to locate and fix?

Could you let us know what model and year please as there is a variety of heating systems fitted.

mine had this. theres a little valve down by the drivers footwell behind the kick panel. mine is jammed open so theres heat all the time. the previous owner fitted a stop tap to the return pipe fron the heater so you can turn it off in summer. i have it on al lthe time and just open the windows though. the heater is pretty boocks anyway!

Yeah, it's usually one of the link levers betwwen the controls and the flaps in the heater. Not too bad job to get to and if they're stuck they usually free up easy enough. Paul.

I've got an SE5 GTE.

Do rather need to get this sorted as my car runs particularly hot anyway due to the V8 in front, so having extra hot air pumped in makes it almost undriveable at the moment.

Haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but any idea how I get in behind the console/controls - easy job to get the panels off?
