Driving back from work last night in my SE5a when the back of my seat collapsed whilst pulling out of a junction giving me a view of the headlining rather than out of the windscreen. I put the seat back up in the correct position and all was fine until it went again this morning. I don't know if this is a common problem and was just wondering if anybody knows of a fix for this before I pull the seat out and have a look. I think it's the rachet mechanism that has failed.

What colour? I have a pair of tan front seats in reasonably good condition that are looking for a new home in exchange for a small consideration.

PM me if you're interested.

The same thing happened to mine a few years ago. Mine was caused by a combination of the ratchet teeth being worn and the screw holding one of the ratchets coming loose. I seem to remember it was an easy repair. I took the ratchets off, re-shaped the teeth with a file and put the screws back in with some thread lock. No problems since.

I checked the rachets and the teeth looked rounded so will try filling them. If not I might be tempted in those seats! Thanks, for the advice.
