essntially this is for Turbster and Nick F, but can apply to others.
Im looking to buy some new Kumhos for this season (plus other vehicle tyres, trailer vans etc) and last year trailed round all the usual suspects only to find a local guy did a better deal especially when you included fitting and balancing.
i need sizes, specs, compounds and quantities at this stage and then i will get hold of the prices.
Cheers

205/50/15
225/50/15

Both sizes in 'Soft'. Best prices I've been given are £106 and £118 each, fitted and balanced, excl. VAT.

I don't suppose everyone wants to group together to buy my slicks for me do they? They're very reasonable you know!

Hi Craig

Is the opportunity to buy the tyres you mention still available please.
I hadnt looked at the forum for ages - so its me own fault if I'm too late.

Many thanks

Hi Steve, its somewhat failed due to lack of availabilty from Kumho rolleyes on the 225s, but the 205s do seem to be readily available.
What sizes do you want? soft compound or medium? im using softs as is Paul and Trevor, but wear rate is highish.

Hi Craig

for the coming season - I will continue with Soft compound 205/50 R 15 at the front where most of the adverse wear take place , and 225/50 R 15 at the rear which dont suffer so much.I am happy with soft compounds please , and if the 225 is not available , is something slightly wider available.

As an alternative , I have a contact at Dunlop who maybe able to help if we knew sizes , names and compounds of their products.

Thanks

Steve

the 225s are on back order, myself and Paul have them on an 'as and when' basis as there will only be small quantities available when they do arrive in the UK. We cant however cancel them once they were ordered, so we have nailed our colours to the wall so to speak!
The 205s seem to be available easily, when do you need the 205s for? and when for the 225s? basically are both fronts and rears totally shot or do you need one pair more urgently than the others?

As for the dunlops, they do some nice List 1B tyres but not in the sizes we need (mostly only 13" or 17/18"s) and they arent as soft as the ridiculous Kumhos anyway. I guess they would be much better for trackdays or circuit racing though.

also 225/50-15 is the widest and softest tyre for our purposes unfortunately

No real hurry , but if you need a confirmed order , then please let me know.I guess you have my personal e-mail address via Liz , if not , I can supply.

I have a spare set of V70A in both sizes , but are part worn , so spares will be usefull.

Cheers

ill have some 225's for the rear thanks

let me know what you need and when they are landing

edited to add, i think ill go for medium as my 2 week old soft 205 rears are already on the wear limiter . . . . . . . . will 225 wear better than this ?

god I hope so.

I ordered a set last week and they arrived immediately, so it looks like the availability problems with the 225s have gone away.

yes ours have arrived monday, cheers Nick.
Gurston does seem to have bad luck with the weather doesnt it when the scims appear? or is it wiscombe thats been wet in recent years?
IF the gods are smiling on me (and its a bloody big IF at the moment...) i shall be at Harewood with a totally untested car with loads of tinkered with bits and its looking like its gonna be wet. Oh joy... looks like i'll have my work cut out as tango Turbster is there too.
Let battle commence!

sorry DucatiGary, i havent checked this thread for ages until today and hadnt seen your post, apologies. As Nick said they do seem to be freely available again now, it seems a strike at their Far Eastern plant was the issue and the fact that they are shipped over rather than flown once production had got under way. Most outlets should be able to help you, or if your are local to the west midlands i can put you in touch with the guys weve bought through.
Cheers

no probs I found some 205's at a local tire place, same make, same as the old ones, and cheap too, so I bought em.
