Replacement engine
Discussion
Is that just for fitting or the engine and fitting? That is a very cheap price for the engine and fitting. Quite frankly if you were going to go to the trouble of fitting a 2.9 you would be better off fitting a Rover V8. If you look at www.scimitarweb.com/traders/ there is a list of Scimitar specialists. I have used High Peak Classics and Queensbury Road Garage and can recommend either of them. I have heard lots of good things about Ian Daniels from other Scimitar owners who have used him.
A 2.9 in a 5a would be a better bet, the only question mark would be clearance for the dizzy cap as it's at the back of the 2.9. V8's go in 5's but not so well in a 5a due to the bulkhead being further forward. I've had a 6a with a 2.9 and it also kept the 4 speed o/d box using the 6b bellhousing, nice engine and starts first time everytime...
I've got a 3 litre Essex sitting in my garage. It came out a Granada years ago and has been dry stored ever since. It turns over easily and has compression, otherwise I don't know anything about it (It's not been pulled apart). As such I'm only after £50 or so. Let me kinow if you're interested.
