I have a project in the pipeline.
I have an 82 6B and got hit lightly in the rear a few year ago. I knew it would be a while before I overhauled the car as it was really due for an engine and box rebuild, so it's tucked away waiting attention.
I took the chance to aquire:
Brand new galvanised chasis (the last one I was told).
The last front and rear Middlebridge bumpers.
Middlebridge rear lights.
It will be later this year whe I start it. I just can't decide on which engine and box to use. I bought a 2.9i in bits but am tempted to source a 4.0 Bronco(?) V6.
OR
A supercharged 2.9 V6 designed to run on LPG.
I'd really like to keep the O/D gearbox as it is a feature of the marque but a bit fragile when high power put through it. I'd like advice on that one...

We have had an SE6 GTE for around 40 years - unfortunately it has been laid up for nearly half of that
The engine was re-built (poorly) by a 'specialist' up north, however no longer an Essex fan.
Though a tad naughty, if I rebuild, I shall probably go with an RV8 auto
Still like the styling, dont like invasive trans tunnel and door trim or offset driving position - hate the light strange steering - had two racks seize whilst entering corners..
Always wanted to convert rear deck to 'car camping' spec and install a moon roof to enjoy starry nights
Have there been alternative suspension and rack upgrades?
Bit of Scimitar fame...had Gerry Marshall onboard driving out for a pub lunch - he asked me to slow down on a backroad straight! (Actually, probably due to his then declining health)
So among Scimitar driving experiences were running wide into the grass with frozen rack, front wheel collapsing sideways at forty (trunnion)
Local garage played with carb and didnt secure fuel pipe - engine bay ablaze with mum out driving it
Entering back road known 90 left in wet - rears locked solid putting car 20 deg sideways, then again, 30 deg - released brakes again - running out of braking area, rears locked again and had no room to release or modulate, spinning car around at 50 - entering corner completely backwards at 50, brakes back hard on, mounted verge at 30 + and hit drainage ditch - engine shot off its mounts, welds broke on steering wheel and came with me as i traveled backwards!
Sooo, would definitely like to modernise rack, suspension and brakes

I am like most on here a real sucker for a project and a few on here will shake their heads when I say often have more waiting projects than time and money allows to get done but in my head they are are possible projects!!
On the Scimitar front my wife says they are a Marmite car you either love them or hate them!! I have 3 Se6a's, one starts and moves, one is a spares car and the other was someone else's unfinished project, this project car will be getting the engine from my Saab 9000 aero that I thrashed around in for a few months, that engine never failed to put a smile on my face as that turbo spooled up spinning the front tyres in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even 4th gear It got updated ECU, 3 inch down pipe and a few tasty bits making it a strong engine so in RWD in a stripped out Scimitar should make a very entertaining ride!
I have a Mecredes with a superb low mileage well looked after OM606 turbo diesel, rot has taken the body but that engine is screaming to be used in something else, was for my Landy 110 to replace the 3.5V8 but one of my other Range Rovers will donate its 4.6V8 for the Landy, perhaps the OM606 into one of the Scimitar's would make a good usable everyday car.
People often overlook the Scimitar's but with prices so low, no rot bodyshells ( ok the chassis and bits of metal bonded to the body do rot) and great engine swap possibilities like ones I know of Omega V6, Chevy small block, Lexas v8, Rover v8 even a couple of diesel engine swaps but to name a few makes these cars a viable and potentially cheap fun car for those of us that like to be different!
Anyhow that's my thoughts on the Scimitar GTE's
