Hi,looking to buy a Scimitar as an everyday car - know nothing about them so can the forum help? What are the big differences between SE5,SE5A & SE6?How user friendly are these cars, are the heaters good, are the `boxes OK,what sort of mpg should I expect?Any parts that are hard to get now for these cars?Is it worth joining the club to find a car or go on PH & Ebay? Are they comfy for long distance journeys? Thanks if anyone can answer these points.Cheers from keeble kid.

A few years ago I used my SE5A as an everyday car for 2 years but I only did about 4,000 miles a year. It was reliable, comfortable and the heater works fine after it has warmed up. The only real down sides were that I got on average 25 mpg, but it is an automatic, and the wipers aren't brilliant in heavy rain. I even drove it in the snow. Like saabster14 said it's worth while joining the club if you're serious about getting one. Most people in the club are very knowledgeable and helpful.

The SE5a is smaller than the SE6A but I prefer it as I find it slightly more sporty than the SE6A.

Find out where one of the local meets (noggins) are near you and go along as I'm sure people there will show you the differences and maybe take you for a ride.

Well, my father had one for 9 years as an everyday driver. Reckoned it was the best car he ever had, and OK that was a few years ago but that would still apply if in good nick.

Had an SE6A as a virtual daily driver for 14 years, all problems are well documented and the Scimitar owners club produce an excellent magazine called SLICE, Parts are readily available, I used to get mine from Graham Walker or Scimpart. Always a head turner and if looked after will last you well.
