Hi,

My wife's '54 reg 93 1.9 Tdi 150 is displaying the engine check symbol, which we 'think' is just due to an enthusiastic car valet and power wash (this has happened before).

Rather than taking time out for a dealer check, is it possible to buy a plug-in tester/software to do a self-diagnosis?

Also, if this is possible, would the same kit suit my MY '02 95 Aero?

Thanks,

Dom

If it was mine, I'd be unplugging connectors looking for signs of water ingress and drying them out PDQ with a hair drier (NOT a heat gun lol)
But I'll be watching for the replies with interest as I have a 9-3 150 Tid 2006. I don't wash the engine bay but I may do a clean one day and my luck determines a similar thing would happen......

OBDII readers are available from ebay for approx £15, link up to the laptop and read engine codes, spend a little more and they will read other codes too.

I bought a bluetooth OBDii reader that links to my android phone using a free bit of software called Torque, reads and clears engine codes fine.
