Looking to replace air filter on 9-5 Aero MY02.Is it better to use the standard part or use a "sportier" aftermarket one.

I ordered this one:

Did a bit of research on the forums and couldn't see a real benefit of the performance one. Especially as I'm not planning on any engine mods.

I reckon general consensus is the paper one is fine and good for way more bhp than the standard car. However, if your keeping the car for any length of time, it's more cost effective to run a K+N or similar. I had a K+N in the 9000 (200bhp) and have a JR in the 9-5, 230/240(?) bhp. I can't say I hear the difference on the 9-5 (over stock paper) but the 9000 had the airbox mod and sounded quite the business. K+N looked a better filter. I can see through the JR. That said, I know people who've found K+N more restrictive than paper although this wasn't on a Saab.

stock airfilter dosent become restrictive untill over 400bhp, changing it will make no diffrence to performance unless your over that power figure, if you want the car to sound like a aeroplance taking off ditch the stock airfilter housing and fit an open airfilter you will get a very load turbo woosh and the blow off valve can he heard.
