I've just discovered a significant amount of water in the passenger footwell of our '97 Saab 900 convertible. The carpet is sodden. It could have been there for a while - the wet area was hidden under the carpet mat. The water doesn't seem to contain antifreeze but I'm not 100% sure. Driver's side seems dry.

If the heater matrix was leaking, where would a puddle normally appear?

Could water get into the passenger footwell if a scuttle drain was blocked?

Tips/advice would be appreciated. smile

You may have a blocked "elephant's trunk" - a rubber funnel things under the scuttle which collects water and drops it on the ground - search for the term on Saab Central and you will find it - I had that on a 94 GM900 a few years ago - just needs cleaning out if that is it...

Thanks Prof. Appreciated.

I've found this page:
http://www.saabcentral.com/~munki/technical/interi...

I'll check this on our car and see whether it helps.

That's the one - it caused a very wet passenger footwell when blocked on our old GM900

The interior is almost dried out now so I can do some testing.

Probably the bulkhead cracked, letting water in...

Could be, but ours is an NG900, not the later 9-3. I thought the 900s weren't prone to cracked bulkheads.
