remap for saab 9.3 aero 1999
Discussion
i would like the car to go faster and improve mpg, i been on the net seaching for a remap company, there seems to be loads and all saying the same things like how they are better than their shoddy competitors. does anyone have experience buying a remap for their saab and can anyone recommend me a reputable and not v expensive company. thanks
If your car is running T5 engine management (1999 was the cross over year to T-7) then you can easily make your own maps in a few clicks using t5-suite (includes a wizard for staged tunes).
You'll get quite a lot more power depending on what model 9-3 you own though generally you won't gain much fuel improvement unless you add some supporting hardware mods such a fmic and larger 3inch downpipe.

As has been suggested, if your car is a T5 one, go onto UKSaabs forum and likely for a few beer tokens one of the good DIY tuners will help you out with something from T5Suite.If you want to buy commercially, then there's really only one choice IMHO, and that's Maptun......I've seen too many iffy dyno plots from most of the other commercial tuners.
tombar i had my car remapped yesterday by a really nice, friendly and knowledgeable guy.
as i dont have a clue about ecu's etc, i asked if this guy could fit it for me too. I went to his house , he took the ecu out (its under the steering wheel, in the carpet near footwell...then he took it out, , he took the ecu and connected it to his laptop (after some fiddley soldering) then he showed me what he was doing , remapping the car to stage one, then i went for a test drive with him, gave him 50 quid and left. and wow, the car is transformed...it sounds louder..and the acceleration now....wow...its really quick now....
and all for 50 quid!....i went to some tuning companies asking for quotes and i got quotes raning from 250 quid up to 450quid...i was apprehensive about doing this to the car..but the car is exaclty how it is..except that when i put my foot down, the car just accelerates sooo much faster.....
on a private stretch of road i went 90mp, put my foot down and the car acclerated like it had previously done from 60mph
i am going to try and get a 0.60mph time out of it this week, i am hoping its under 6 seconds now
tombar..if u pm me i will tell you what guy it was that remapped it for me..
i am doing the opposite of you..i now need the suspension sorted out- what did you do to yours?
and thanks to pistohneads for recommending me to go to uksaabs.com
