9-3 climate control buzz
Discussion
Recently bought a 2000 9-3 Turbo SE, very pleased with it. No squeaks or rattles as clearly owned by older previous owner (all temperature controls set to imperial measurements....) however, the climate control sensor intake(?) below the climate control panel buzzes. Before I start to disassemble this, what is the likely cause? Sounds like a fan blade catching or similar, I don't know how these are designed inside?!
How odd! Exactly the same thing has just happened to my '99 9-3 convertible. It is definitely coming from the little vent. I wonder if the cold weather has brought it on (sort of rheumatism for cars?!). It seems to buzz after the ignition key is removed too, but not flattening my battery thank goodness.
Look forward to finding out why too!!

Had the same on my 93. Looked it up on a few Saab forums and basically, there is a small fan that drags air in from the cabin and over a temp sensor. The fan gets clogged up with dust etc.
Using a flat palate knife, prize out the aircon unit enough to pull it out (be careful not to scratch the dash). You can now get access to the sensor/fan, pop out the sensor and you can then disconnect the fan. clean it with a damp cotton bud. put a tiny bit of 3in1 oil on the visible spindle and wipe off excess. Put everything back together and all is quiet again! Did mine about 3 months ago and has been fine since.
I did a search on "saab 93 cabin temp sensor cleaning" in google.
Was about a 10 minute job, rather than get a garage to replace it.
Good luck!
