Fuse 14 audio circuit
Discussion
Hi folks,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this before it starts to cost loads!
Car: 06 sportwagen 2.8
problem: recurring flat battery (brand new battery)
The rac guy confirmed the battery was still sucking power even after locking the doors (a steady 8 amps!).
The car has the sat nav and the factory fitted phone, but when we bought it it had another car kit installed.
I decided to remove the other phone kit by simply cutting the wires ( I know, I am a idiot). This was apx 2 weeks before the battery kept going flat - coincedence?
We decided to get a specialist in who narrowed the drain down to fuse 14 - the audio/ sat nav and phone circuit - although he could not fix the problem as he didn't want to start tacking the dash apart etc.
Do you think the problem is linked to me stupid removal method of the aftermarket car kit? If I get it professionally removed, could this solve the issue?
Thanks loads for any help!
Scott

There is a chance that it is related. Is the fuse blowing? I'd be inclined to remove it if not and see if it still has battery drain over night.
As for cutting the wires did you then cover them? As if not they may be shorting out. long shot but.
Are you sure you got all the wires? pos neg, ignition etc. Also check the windows, again long shot. put them all down then turn off the car. they should stay down unless you have a closure alarm. This was the cause of drain on a frontera I had. the window switch was jammed in the up position. and when off drained the bat.
I know when the ignition is off it cuts power to the windows but worth a look, for the 2 min it takes.
