Particulate filter - much of an issue??
Discussion
Hi folks, I commute around 80 miles round trip to work and fancy a 9-3 convertible diesel for £9k or less.
Some questions: How frequent are problems with the particulate filter on this engine?
Do the petrol engines suffer the same problem?
What sort of real world mpg might I expect from 2 litre diesel or petrol on a motorway commute?
Anything else to watch out for?
Many thanks,
Saxon

The particulate filters come on the diesel engines. They can get blocked up if driven around town alot and not properly driven. if you drive regually on a motorway they will be fine because they have to get to a certain temp before they clear which they would not do whilst town driving.
the only other thing to look out for really on the diesel( presume 1.9) is the egr valve which can stick and the swirl flaps on the inlet manifold braking.
Cannot comment on mpg though unfortunatly.
