for my 2004 9-3 aero convertible.

only had it for a fortnight, and the road roar from the back is.............irritating.

it's only for posing in, so grip levels of a fiesta will be fine, so long as it's .............quiet

have a look at your rear tyres. check the inner edge to see if they are uneven cos that will cause u one hell of a noise. if so then your rear arms have probably gone but best to get it looked at cos it will do the same to your new tyres .

I found Continental premium contact2 quiet & excellent in all other respects - bit of a hard decision to make, though - try a decent tyre dealer (ie not QkFt or similar) & they may have the experience to help.

Toyo T1R's - softer compound so they will wear quicker than harder tyres, but the pay off is better handling, and much, much quieter.

On my Alfa 159, which is, oddly, related to the 9-3 in many ways, I found Goodyear EfficientGrip to be the quietest, having driven the car on Dunlop Sport Maxx TT, Continental PremiumContact, Goodyear Eagle F1 and Pirelli P7

I'm running my 02 9-3 Aero ragtop on Michelin Exalto Sorts - they are not especially noisy

Had something similar on the back of my 9-5 Aero Estate.

Dealer said probably the block pattern due to 1/2 worn tyres. Rubbish I thought, sounds like a bearing gone. Eventually changed the tyres for the same again (Michelin whatevers) and the noise went away ...

It's about the first time I've known a dealer of any franchise to be right about a somewhat obscure symptom.

Of course your challenge may be different ....

Had the 04 Conv Aero.

Was a company car so no real choice with tyres.

We used to get Dunlop Sport Maxx fitted as summer tyres - they were quiet, but seemed to wear quickly.

Winter tyres were Continentals and they were very loud, more so than any other winter tyres I have used before or since. (Different cars mind)

My 9-5 is on Michelin Pilots and they seem OK, but then this car is a lot quieter than the 9-3 all round.
