I have a Saab 9000 with a full 3" JT Exhaust system, but no CAT, so not surprisingly it has just failed the MOT.
Does anybody have one I can borrow - All postage paid + beer vouchers.

Thanks

Do you have the JT downpipe with the seperate short cat replacement pipe at the end that you can fit a suitable cat into...or is it a full de-cat downpipe? If it's the latter then you will need to 'borrow' a complete 3" downpipe and cat and fit, and then refit your DP all over again after. Fitting a 3" DP on a 9k isn't a 5 min task either smile Not sure you'll find to many peeps with a spare 3"DP & cat lying around.

I'd get a suitable 100 or 200 cell cat and fit into your JT DP and be done with it. There really isn't much difference running a 9k decatted or running thru a race cat.

Thanks for the reply Graham - I'm still learning about this car, but it looks like it has the JT de-cat pipe fitted, ie there is a short section of pipe fitted at the end of the downpipe.
I've contacted Elkparts but they don't supply the Cat seperately.
Do you reckon the bolt on version of this would do the job? Or do you know any other suppliers that you would recomend?

Try Neo Bros as they are a Maptun agent and Maptun is a JT agent, so they might be able to get you the correct fitment race cat for the JT DP.

In the past some of the guys have just ordered a standard 100 or 200 cell cat from somewhere like Summit Racing in the USA as the £/$ was very advantageous.....but currently they may not be the cheapest way of doing it with the pound falling so much.

Maybe worth posting over in the performance section of UKSaabs forum as current 9k owners may have a more up to date info re suppliers.

An Update to close the topic - I ended up having to buy and get fitted a 100 race Cat - £280 fitted. Maybe a bit steep, but I had no option. I can't really detect any difference in noise or performance, so overall I'm happy and no emissions worries on future MOT's.

That's not too bad a price, as 100 cell cats on their own shipped from the USA were working out at £80-90 each back when the pound was worth nearly two dollars........so that would be 150 odd quid or more now, so £280 fitted isn't that steep tbh.
