Thinking of a 9-3 2.0T Aero Convertible - advice please!
Discussion
Hi All!
Thinking of getting a 9-3 convertible, a lovely looking car that I've liked the look of for a while. Looking to get say a 3 year old one, just before the last facelift put too much on the front end.
I think from the spec that the 2.0T in the Aero should be the best all round for performance, handling and toys. I'll be using it to go on holiday in Europe, so want something good long distance but also sporty for the twisty bits.
Does anyone have anything similar and have any recommendations, things to watch out for etc?
Whats the real MPG like on the motorway? Is the satnav worth it or can it be retrofitted?
And is it possible to get a ski rack for it? I saw the old adverts showing one, but cannot find one advertised anywhere?
Any info appreciated!

I have an 08 2.0T Aero Sportwagon (facelift).
Went for the 08 rather than the 07 as the interiors improved after the facelift.
Perfect car for cruising motorways in comfort(the seats are some of the best and comfiest). As a real world average I would say expect 30-35 mpg depending on how anally you drive for efficiency.

I have an 05 Aero Ragtop with Hirsch re-map taking it to 235bhp (I think), owned from 12 months old.
For the last 4 years we (wife + 2 kids), have driven to the South of France. Certainly worth cutting down on the luggage so you can make use of the open top when you get there.
MPG - The wife generally uses it daily around town, and the average seems to drop down to sub 25mpg, but on a long run, I have had same computer readout displaying 33mpg. South of France with wife, 2 kids and luggage is normally about 31mpg.
Only issue I have had is a failed wheel bearing which went 1 month outside of waranty, but Saab went halves on the repair cost. Other than that 4 years of trouble free motoring.
