Hi Folks,

Bought a '06 auto sportwagon apx 3 months ago with with 70k & FSH - last service in Nov '09.

I checked the computer service schedule (only found out it had this facility recently!) and whilst doing this it showed shows that the 'oil quality' is at 52% - I will get the oil changed pronto, which leads me to 2 questions, if anyone would able to help:

1: Which oil is best to use?
2: How accurate is this reading and what does the 52% actually relate to?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Forgot to mention: Very happy with the car (albeit my wifes)- only the usual gripes about slightly shody interior build quality....

Cheers folks!
Scott

Look in the handbook for the correct weight of oil then buy that weight of oil from Redline, Silkolene or Motul, they are about the best 100% fully synthetic oil out there.

Walk into a vauxhall dealer ship and ask for 5w30 fully synthetic oil which is abit cheaper than what saab charge.

The engine can use any oil that meets the GM spec (can't remember off the top of my head) but the usual stuff from Castrol edge 0w30, GM oil 5w30, or mobil 1 0w40.

The oil indicator basically works how far you have got before the next service depending on the way you drive and outside conditions.

I do all motorway driving and get a max of 14-15K between services but more usually about 12K, if you have a lead foot, its more like 10K. I can't see how you could get the full 18K between services.

I service the car with a oil and filter change when the oil indicator states 50%.

I would have thought with that mileage it would have had its big service (4th), which costs around £700 due to spark plug replacement.

Agree with about the interior quality!
