Re: Saab parts...This may or many not be old news but...
Discussion
Just incase this isn't old news in Saab owners circles...
GM are ceasing their parts operation at Luton for Saab as of the latter part of next week.
From this point onwards, all parts to dealers will come from Sweden. VOR orders will be next day as before, but stock orders will take 5 working days from Sweden.
I would also advise of pending eye opening price increases soon on top of already largely massively over-inflated parts prices that seem to come with Saab ownership.
Please note, this does not affect the existing aftersales dealer network in this country.
Just a heads-up for you Saab boys.

Interesting.
A month ago my dealer mentioned to me that the list price of replacement batteries had halved under the new management - to something like sensible prices. Mind you they could never charge the RRP anyway so it will make little difference.
Bear in mind that to overcome the recession all and sundry, from government tax planners through banks and their charges and interest rates, energy suppliers, telecoms and uncle Tom Cobley all seem to have decided to charge their "customer's" more. It's an interesting policy seemingly based on the ability of the better off to hedge their bets on investments by paying over the odds for 'collectors items' - like Evans and his new Ferrari toy and the stupid prices paid for some alleged "works of art" recently.
Most car manufacturers seem to have taken the opportunity to increase their prices (partly driven by government 'green' tax policies making a 'new car' look attractive for some of the minor costs - like the egregious road Fund Tax bands. They can then 'give back' the increases as 'discounts' claiming to be continuing the 'good works' of the scrappage scheme. My guess is they are being advised on marketing by bankers.
Something will give. It may not be pretty when it does.

I just don't understand as why saab or any other manufacturer can get away with such prices.I needed a new part recently which is list at £227.. the nice chap behind the parts counter told me to use other part number that was stamped on the part and call a motor factors. The part cost £37+ vat.. saved a
fortune for an OEM part!
cheers
