1.9 Tid 2006 Electrics
Discussion
Posted this on the Saabcentral forum, but as I have not heard back from my other posts on there thought I'd pop this one on here as well:-
Took delivery of our 9-3 1.9 Tid Vector Sport 150 Sportwagon Friday. Delighted with it; compared to my old Rover 45 TDi it is a bit noisy over the bumps, but I realise it has rather firmer suspension.
Had some strange happenings today; sitting in the car early afternoon reading up on the various aspects of the SID - nothing switched on, not even the key in the slot, when suddenly there was a buzzing sound and I noticed the needles for the speedo and rev counter were trembling just off zero - this went on for about five seconds.
Then this evening went for a drive - cruising at about 75, suddenly the needles for all the gauges went down to zero. All other displays OK. After about 20 seconds, the gauges all started to work again (no loss of performance whatever). A further couple of seconds, and the panel lit up like Blackpool Illuminations, just about every warning light known to man and Saab was showing. 20 or so seconds later all returned to normal; we continued our journey to the destination a further 15 miles, then later 30 miles back home, all OK. Poor contact panel wiring connector? When I take the car in to the dealer to have the aircon fixed Friday (assuming it gets me to work & back till then!) will the workshop be able to find any fault codes? Most strange.
In all other respects, the car is just terrific.

The dealer I got it from is Saab Oxford, real nice guys. Only 4 miles from where I live - very handy. Can't take it there till Friday as working right through to Thurs. Seemed OK into work this morning at LHR; maybe just a bad connector behind the dash. They are going to regas the aircon and if nec they can have it till the following Mon as I have 4 days off - just need to get it done to restore my confidence!
Well, electrics sorted. Apparently there were issues following the fitting of the new battery prior to the purchase - a few fault codes were identified and the electrics reconfigured after sorting the problem. But the aircon needs a new condensor - on back order just as we have sunshine! Should get it fixed within a week or so, but glad it is under warranty and absolutely no complaints about the service from the dealer.
