Saab's original - solo - replacement for the C900
Discussion
I wonder if there are any with long memories and esoteric knowledge?
IIRC, Saab were working on 2 projects prior to the GM buy-in: first, a heavily facelifted C900 and, second, an all-new 900 developed in-house.
I recall seeing a "scoop" shot in Car back in the day of the front end of a heavily-facelifted C900 (or that was what it was supposed to be - it was, literally, a "lift the sheet" shot), but there again that might have been the all-new model instead.
With the GM buy-in, the in-house design (which IIRC was very close to production) was canned, and the rest is history.
But, can anybody shed any more light on these projects? Is there anything "out in the open" about them?
