Hi.
I have had my 95 Estate for 3 months now and have a minor irritation that is creeping in.
The lights are not the best available.
The car has Xenons fitted and whilst they light up the road with a good wide spread they do not seem to penetrate particularly far into the gloom.
So, I am looking for a solution.
I live in the middle of nowhere down unlit country roads that wind through forests. Populated mainly by local in-breeds and deer. Lots and lots of deer.
I was thinking about a set of driving spots to give a better concentration of light that I could angle towards the verges to try and pick out the suicidal buggers in the distance.
Have had a search of Elkparts, Neo Brothers, Abbott Racing etc with no luck at finding a model specific fitting kit which would enable easy removal once the spring and the resulting newborns death stampede is over. I don't really want to be drilling holes through the bumpers.
Anyone know of clamped kits for the 95?
Thanks

Yep, that was suggested.
Think they would be too low down to be much use (I did this on my old STi and found that the beam was too low)
I have seen a 95 with a set of Cibie lights that were fixed with clamps through the grill and a stabalising rod running between the pair and back down through the grill.
Having looked I suspect there was a backing plate as nothing looks robust enough to clamp directly to.
Maybe I just drill the holes and grommet them come the summer.

I have a 9-5 Aero Estate and the lights are not a problem at all. Main beam is close to daylight. (Iirc only the dipped are xenon taking advantage of the light pattern available.)
Has your self adjusting system got a problem? Does it work at all? I assume that failsafe would be to drop the beam so if it has failed you would get the effects you describe. Mine can be seen jiggling about a lot, as intended, as the the car is maneouvered (less obvious at speed). If you are not seeing that then it may not be working.
Interestingly I read recently that there are 2 electro-mechanical sensors attached to the suspension, one front and one rear, and that they can be prone to failure due to their exposed locations. It seems that spare parts are currently in short supply - the figure of 1000 on back order (just for the UK as I interpreted the comment) is slightly worrying.

You don't have any bumpers.....the front end is all deformable plastic and won't be strong enough to 'bolt' anything to....certainley not any aux lighting custom brackets through the grille as you say is your best bet. See this link for a photo of a Swedish Police 9-5 with front aux lamps for an idea.

I find the full beam on mine to be adequate for unlit country lanes.
