I know that I am about to put a curse on things, BUT....

Bought an '06 9-3 Linear Sport estate in November last year, as baby ourchris was on the way (had to sell my TVR Griffith...). It was the cheapest diesel I could find outside an auction, came with 129,000 on it, had a cracked rear light, scraped rear wheel arch and it generally looked a bit sorry for itself. It did however come with 12 months MOT, 6 tax and warranty, recent clutch, FSH, has climate, parking sensors and half leather - and all in was 4.4k after a bit of arguing.

I really thought that I was in for a load of trouble, but 3000 miles on, it all seems to be really good. I did an oil and filters change as soon as I got it, and got the timing belt and water pump done for piece of mind. The rear light, which was quoted at over £200 I got off ebay for £30 (!!), and got the rear arch fixed up well. The paint has even come up nicely with a bit of elbow grease, although there are a few dents and stone chips, as you can imagine on a car with the mileage it has. I just need to get the gear selector housing sorted, but the change is livable, so not essential (although this will be sorted next week.)

So - I know that its a Vectra with a different lid, but it drives well, is comfortable for baby, and is a bit different - and I am actually getting quite attached to it !!

Pointless post, I know, but there you go ! - is there anything I should be keeping an eye on, or replacing ?

Have you ever driven a Vectra?

I haven't but I drove an Insignia hire car for 2 weeks after I unfortunately had to sell my 93 Vector Sport TID 150 estate, due to a new job with a company car.

I thought the Insignia would be better due to it having the next generation floor pan. But it’s not, It was rubbish! They look good but they feel cheap & the ride was horrible.

The SAAB 93 is a great car, its world apart from any Ford or Vauxhall & I'm gutted it had to go. I also got very attached to mine.

My temp company car I'm driving is a 4 year old Astra SRi CDTI 150 X pack, which is actually better than the Insignia.

I've got a Volvo V50 2.0D R design on order, which I hope is as good as the SAAB, but I'll have to wait & see?
