Lost remote - Alarm bypass on 98 900 convertible?
Discussion
Is it possible? Sorry if it's been asked a thousand times, I couldn't find anything with the search.
A friend (really) dropped and trod on his only remote and now can't drive the car as the alarm is armed.
He found someone who says he could provide a new remote but needs the car to program it and it's not practical to tow the car there. Can the alarm be bypassed completely?
He has the keys but I assume it's immobilised as well (is this correct?). He doesn't care if he ends up with no alarm or immobiliser, he just wants to be able to drive the car.
I think it's a '98 900 convertible. He tells me that Saab no longer support the factory fitted alarm (which his is) which seems very odd to me. I've seen a few suggestions elsewhere on how to resolve this but none seem entirely convincing or involve fairly major expense.
Any suggestions? Cheers.
