As above really.

Mine had dropped pixels when I purchased the car so I sent it off for a refurb.

Now it is back the central locking seems more enthusiastic.

The starter is more energetic.

Idle seems smoother.

Now this might be result of the good gremlins visiting, just seems odd that the car feels markedly better following this small change.

The SID unit wouldn't really have much effect on the engine and stuff so i think its prob just good look that its running better.

Have you accidentally bought another car in the meantime?

Nope, and I am seriously confused.

To check things I took it back out again.

Back to previous state.

Central locking very slow - no clunk at all, working more like the old Ford Escort pump system, starter cranking very slowly, idle wasn't too bad though.

Stuck it back in and will forget about it.

How bizarre. I wonder if SID incorporates some kind of control module, but you'd think that if it did, the thing wouldn't work at all without it, rather than just working poorly.

You'll understand if I don't take mine to bits tonight to try to replicate the symptoms...smile

Just out of interest, where did you send it? Mine has about 10% showing these days...

I'll look it out.

Mine went via the dealer to a place in Wales cost £100.

There is also a guy on ebay offering lifetime guarantee on a refurb for £50.

I used the dealer (Cox's in Ipswich) just for peace of mind and the fact I wasn't paying helped.

Unit was back inside a week.

Cheers, have seen some adverts on the Saab forums and Ebay for these services.
