Would appreciate a second guess on this:

The cabin fan/blower on my '05 Aero has stopped working altogether; turn the ignition on, switch the blower/temp to max and nothing happens (it is the auto system, not manual); windscreen blower which I assume runs off the same unit isn't doing anything either; just a lot of clicking and whiring when I change the fan speed or it's output direction. Checked the fuses and they seem fine; gut instict tells me the blower motor has gone frown

Anyone had something similar happen? Hoping it isn't going to be a hassle to fix! Another weird thing is that the rear window defroster is set to come on automatically, however even this isn't happening. I don't know if the actual window is defrosting when I do switch it on, but its not coming on automatically like its set up to.

TIA.

Common problem on Saabs. They have a thermal fuse that controls the fan speed. If it get too hot is blows. PITA to replace though.

I have the same issue and will try this fix at the weekend.

The link below show how to access the resistor pack that the fuse sits on.

You should be able to get a new fuse from Maplins

Remember to crimp rather than solder it on.

Hope that helps

Oddly enough the thing came back to life after about 30 minutes of driving; worked fine for the rest of the day. Get into car the next day; blower is dead for 5 mintues, then starts working fine. Yesterday it was silent for about 30 seconds then started blowing fine, today it started as soon as I turned the ignition on confused

Will keep an eye on it, but it seems to have fixed itself (it is only hesitant after sitting overnight).

In that case it is probably water/condensation on the resistor contact.
