I have a 1999 SE Sport (B204) I have owned it from nearly new so am attatched to the old thing, I have just gone over 150k, rather than change I thought I would spend a few pounds and refresh the old girl along the lines of below, any comments or thoughts

3' Abbott/Maptun exhaust
induction kit
Re-map
Viggen rescue kit (purchased and is sitting on the bench)
Koni shocks/Springs (have just ordered replacement MacPherson struts as the olds ones where corroded)
17' wheels (because I want 4 pot caliper conversion)

Has any one done similar work to a 9-3 and would care to comment, not sure who to use Abbott or Maptun

Thanks Mark

Hi, I don't have any of the modifications but they sound right for the normal first mods people do.

My car is a 2001 Aero, I fancied a bit more turbo noise but before buying an expensive air filter kit I got a spare airbox and cut a large hole in the base. I really dont like the sound at all, the growl it makes iss weird - though you do get slightly more turbo noise, mainly the sound of the dump valve coming through.

Just a note to say an exhuast and filter will make the car a fair bit louder!

the remap is truly excellent - it transforms the car. go for a stage 2 or 3 maptun if you can.

I have a Stage 3 Maptun on my 2002 9-3 Aero - it includes remap, 3" exhaust system with ceramic sports CAT, hi-flow air-filter. (I also fitted a 22mm rear anti-roll bar which has transformed the handling). The Stage 3 changes are rated to deliver 270bhp/370Nm o the Aero - haven't checked that but the car feels very quick. I've had these changes on for nearly two years now.

General consensus is that the Koni springs are st and the Abbott springs are the ones to go for. Also there are plenty of people out there who will do you a T7 re-map very cheaply. You can even do it yourself if you are computer savvy http://ecuproject.com/

i just used the "plug in and go" BSR remap, and it worked a treat. No garage necessary.
