A great shame: despite the obvious potential problems, this offered a very interesting future for Saab. I do sincerely hope suggestions of a sale to Chinese interests are wide of the mark.

i think saab just want a buyer right now and get it over with as they are facing a lot of uncertainities, the Chinese are more likely to turn saab into a profitable company

saab may go down. the Chinese want to buy Saab , but GM will rather let Saab go down the pan, then sell to the Chinese as they dont want China to get the intellectual rights

Furthermore, if a Chinese firm turns out to be the only suitor, let us not forget what happened with MG-Rover; one suitor can so easily turn into no suitors (until the fire sale begins).

, i would prefer the Chinese to own Saab than have it disappear but it now seems that GM will not sell to them, if Spyker comes up with the goods though who knows....
i do know that you can buy a Pre reg 9-3 aero turbo with leather and nice wheels for 15k

the Chinese would pull all the production to China starting with the 9-5. as for MG rover, i know John towers son, and he is cool

Yup, after all, this is what scuppered the K-segg deal.

The Spyker backing is coming from Russia I believe, which after GM getting cold feet over the Russian money backed Magna-Opel deal, might scupper the Spyker deal too.
Penske pulled out of the Saturn buyout as well, possibly because GM were getting stroppy about IP as well, and Penske are a US company.
Which, sadly, I think makes GM shutting down Saab instead as the most likely option at the moment.
