My '97 Saab 9000's heater has, now that winter is here, decided to stop working. When I have it set on Auto the Motor will come on and off intermitteltly, sometimes it just starts to get warm, then it stops - the fans stop, no warm air comes out.....Has anyone got any ideas where I should start looking?

Sounds like the plug into the control set - within the aquarium is beginning to fry. Any more use and it will burn out the blower motor. Not uncommon, I'm afraid

It could well be the cabin temp sensor - I`ve had the same. It`s the dash item to the L of the steering wheel with circular grille on. Tiny fan inside which sample the air. It gets clogged up with fluff etc, so no flow to temp sensor. Give it a short blast with compressed air until you hear the fan whirr, followed by a little spray lube - (bit thicker than WD40 if poss).
Hopefully now Ok.
It`s a bit of a bugger to get out if you need to change it - think it has to go back into the dash - quite a bit of stuff to move out of the way.
Good luck!

Thanks Guys.......I've got a spare 9000 I'm breaking, so if I know what part it is I can do a awap - Is the control set an easy swap?.

It's the thing that looks like a fork, once removed, that plugs into the side of the blower housing within the aquarium. 'tis the plug and socket that fries, and ultimately it will fry the blower itself.
