we've had one as a company fleet car for the last 3 years ( from new ). It's done nearly 50k miles, never missed a beat, flew through its first MOT this year, has been serviced twice and has needed 2 front tyres. Cheap Insurance, avg 52 mpg.
Not the most exciting car in the world, but as a workhorse, faultless.

I have a 56 platevector sport 150 which i have had since may and it has had an alternater a battery a flywheel and this week it is in for a new swirl pot and manifold.
All of these are common faults as long as you get one with some warranty its all free apart from the battery. I paid £136 for a new one but im sure if you shop round you will pay less. quotes for alternater are around £600 and the swirl pot and manifold you wont get much change form a grand. not sure about flywheel but im guessing aroung 800-1k
as for mpg i never really get above 38-39 even when the missus drives it
Top speed is around 135mph ( you dont know you are doing it )
i drive it regually on a 250 mile trip which i usally drive it just in the 3 figures mph and get 39 mpg which is good.
the night panal is great 0-90 but mine is usally fully on 0-160
the estate will hold enough in the boot to take a family of 4 camping for a week, it has a massive space under the boot floor.
and best of all they look better than all the rivals the only thing i dont like is halford style clear rear lights but thats down to personal taste.
as for valve a paid 9k for mine with 50k on the clock bearing in mind it was 26k 2 years earlier i consider it to be a bargin
good luck gettin one
i love mine

Not a lot to add to what's already been said. I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and 51k miles (from new), and just ordered its replacement.
I replaced an A4 (MY2003) with a Vector Sport saloon:
It's superbly comfortable, I drive from London to our Amsterdam office without a problem.
Wind noise/high speed refinement was markedly better than the Audi.
With the VS/Aero suspension, ride around town is a bit crashy, but high speed stability/ride is excellent.
Build/plastics/tactility of contact points is below that of the usual (German) suspects.
Stereo (I have the 13 speaker jobby) is NOT GOOD.
It's had an A/C compressor under warranty, to cure a belt/bearing noise...it didn't
Washer pump was replaced under warranty for blowing fuses repeatedly
The only reason I'm not having another is simply because I like a change. Value/spec for the money I think is very good. It doesn't have an easy life, but averages 46mpg...I've seen over 60mpg on occassion, but take that with a pinch of salt. Best of all, it's a bit 'left-field', and not an obvious choice like a Mondeo/3/A4/Passat.
