When I take my foot off the gas....
Discussion
Hi
I'm new to Saab, got myself a '07 93 2.0 Aero convertible. (loving it)
Your help please, when I take my foot off the gas to change gear the engine does not die instantly it takes a couple of seconds by which time I've depressed the clutch and the engine is screaming - a bit like a sticking throttle cable (but I can't find one). Is this a common thing with turbo's and easily fixed or is it a garage job.
Just orderd a stage 1 PPC and an induction kit, I would like to do something with the exhaust maybe a cat-back system but not the one's with a dustbin as a tail pipe. Can you get a off the shelf a cat bypass pipe or even a sports cat to fit a convertible.
Sorry for all the questions and thanks for reading the above
Cheers
Stu

possibly a sticking throttle cable somewhere.
lift off the plastic cover to the rear of the engine valve cover, you should be able to see the throttle body. Work the pedal back and forth see if its obvious.
For Saab goodies there are plenty of options Abbott racing, Partsforsaabs, Elkparts and so on..
I have a mixture of performance parts on my 9-3 Aero Coupe, Abbott 3" system, Forge motorsport wastegate however try this guy in Sweden..

I have an intake pipe from Rolf and also a big intercooler, his prices are quite reasonable.
The cat back plus a good stage 2 map will make a huge difference to your cars performance, however back the handling will still be poo !
Lower springs/Gas dampers will help plus a fatter rear anti roll bar from SAS makes for a big reduction in body roll. An Abbott steering rack clamp sorts the vague steering out too...
Depends how much you want to spend, I spent about £2000 on after market stuff and mine is up round the 290bhp region now depending on what Ive been doing with it.
T7 engines are ok to 300bhp, much beyond that you are pushing your luck with the lightened pistons, a tuned standard T5 engine from a 9000 ie block/rods/pistons etc will run happily to 450bhp with the correct engine mods.
If I was you, best gains come from a 3" downpipe, if you can afford a complete system all the better. It will need a re-map to get the most from the extra breathing bigger pipes allow it.

good luck
