This is a 3.0 PETROL engine!

It sounded sweet until recently. I suspect it is a transmission/Torque converter issue?

Anyone had one make this noise before?

You can drive the car, but it sounds worse and worse as it warms up and after about 5 miles you start to noticeably lose power. With the windows closed, you barely notice that racket, suprisingly!

ETA: i now realise i should have moved that bloody wickes trolley that appeared yesterday...

Timing belt tensioner ?
or belt guides come loose

Sound terminal whatever it is.
Get it to a specialist before anymore damage is done.

I have taken it to two mechanics and they have ruled out the timing chain. They both 'think' it is gearbox. I guess i am going to have to bite the bullet and go pay for a diagnostic or something!

Update, and hopefully closure!

A mechanic has found a stripped bolt on/in the Torque converter!

Been quoted £300!!
