Hi, I'm seriously considering an Aero, it is '06 saloon car, auto with Sat-Nav for £6.5k. Is this good value? Is there anything I should be looking out for?

I've never owned a Saab before but I friend has had three and highly recommends them. I'm coming from an MG ZT V8 SE, so hopefully it won't be a let down. I'm going to drive it later so I'll let you know how I get on.

I would appreciate any advice.

Top cars very reliable and quick..a bit of a sleeper...I've had two both clocked over 100k, current one up to 135k and still looks fresh

The 9-5Aero is a good car I have a soft spot for these cars but seriously from a ZT V8 ahem, I have driven both cars I know which one I would have imho The ZT. The Saab has serious mid range clout very different from the ZT, some cars have build quality issues and electrical problems if you do buy get an extended warranty thrown in the screen price just to be safe happy motoring

Seems a good price for a 06 car. I'd only want one if it's got the Lux Pack (may have been remaned convience pack for the 'dame edna' facelifted cars though) this gives you heated front and rear seats, rain sensing wipers, power fold auto dim door mirrors, Harmon Kardon 200w audio upgrade and electric front seats with memory on drivers.

Isn't half of the above standard on Dame Edna cars?

The one to look for is a Turbo edition - but I think they only came in on an 08 reg.

One difference no one has mentioned yet is fuel.

Mixed to enthusiastic driving will see mid 20's mpg, but I saw 38mpg on an 70mph M4 run recently. 30mpg is achievable without too much hearse-speed driving.

I like mine more and more. Just be prepared for traction control to slap you when you try to power out of 2nd gear corners too quickly.

I've got a courtesy 9-5 Aero wagon at the moment. It's a hugely competent car. Supremely comfortable, effortless overtaking torque (although it doesn't feel rocketship fast to me - perhaps because it's so insulated), it looks great, really nice interior. I feel like I could drive all day in it, I don't really want to give it back!

Bear in mind that this is an X plater with 120k miles and it feels like new - given that it's worth about 2-3k I can't think of many better car bargains around.

2-3k for a X-plater....no chance, 1.5-2k max.

Blimey. Had a quick look on here / autotrader and didn't find anything like that. Unbelievable for the money!

Non-Aero W plate estates have gone for more than 2K on UkSaabs recently. So would expect more for the more desirable Aero.

We only paid just over 2K for Mrs Beard's Y plate SE Estate (LPT not Aero) a year ago!

Has been a good bus - had to spend money on a new oil cooler (corroded pipes) recently, but otherwise OK.
