SAAB 9-3 Diesel Auto - Any Problems / Model Recommendations

I'm currently looking at replacing my 2001 E39 BMW 520i SE Auto. I did own a 2.0 900S Auto some while ago & may be tempted back. Budget is up to £18k.

Whilst I loved the comfort of my old 900 & its mileage eating ability - I did find it a bit tank like & it did roll a bit. Have these been sorted out.
Also for existing owners what sort of real world mpg are you achieving ?

Finally any known problems with the diesel auto and any must have options if I decide to splash the case

I can only speak for the manual diesel Saab (93) which in terms of real world economy is pretty good. I struggle to get below 50mpg on a tank per tank cycle - constant motorway will see you into the 60's. In range terms, you'll easily get 600 miles from a tank of diesel.
