Hi
Wife has a '53 reg 93 Aero cabriolet and the passenger window has just developed a will of it's own!

If you have the door open and do a "one touch" window up it goes up to the top perfectly. However, with the door closed, it goes up to the top and then back down about halfway! Washed the car yesterday and cleaned the glass inside and out and it made no difference. It also does it when you put the roof up! Wife is getting a little "peeved"!

Rather than have my dealer look at it is there something I can reset/clean/adjust to sort it out. Logically it must be a built in sensor that stops the window going all the way up once it touches something (ie arm, neck etc). I think that we had it previously had it fixed under warranty but nothing was reset.

Thanks

Occasionally have the same problem on my 05 rag top, will be looking for replies with interest.

I am assuming that it's a sensitive sensor with it working OK with the door open?

Sometimes the window can become tight against the mirror chassis, when the door is closed the glass is pushing against the mirror chassis and causing the anti pinch system to think something is being trapped by the widow as it rises, you can re-adjust the mirror chassis when the window is all the way down, but for the best results a take quick trip to a dealer to get the adjustments made and have the system software re-learnt.

Not sure that that is the solution to the problem.

If it was the mirror area causing the problem, the problem would be there with the door open or closed as the mirror moves with the door?

Is there a code sequence, as per BMW for instance, or will it really require a costly dealer trip (costly as in the car is out of warranty and I suspect that, despite a good relationship with the dealer, it may come at a cost, at least for time)?

Yes the mirror moves with the door, but the window pushes against the rubber moulding on the A pillar as it goes up, which in turn can, it the mirror is poorly aligned cause pressure on the window, causing the anti pinch software to trigger a reversal of the window.

I work at a dealer and have done this adjustment many times, of course it could just need reprogramming, the best way to find out is to open the door and then try to close the window, if it closes you need the adustment, if it doesn't you will need the reprogramme.

its a easy job and shouldn't take to long. I would go to a dealer tho as there is a software update and only main dealers can do this.

Torauk, in explanation, if you open the door the window does go up. How do you do the chassis adjustment. Would my dealer do it on a free of charge drop in basis or would it need to be booked in ad paid for? Thanks
