Morning. Normally spend my time here in the Classic car or Alfa forums but need your advice. My best friend has a '91 9OOS with turbo body and wheels. It has recently failed its MOT on chassis rot. Work estimated at £800+. My friend has no emotional attachment to the car and is ready to scrap it. This seems criminal to me as its a beautiful looking car and I'm sure there are a faithful following. I'd rather see it revived or used as a donor by an enthusiast. I've told him I'll try and find wheres best to sell. I don't want to go to Ebay as I can't be ar5ed with it. Is the Owners club a good place? Is the classified section free or do I need to be a member. Then, whats it worth. I'm thinking £500+. Its red, good body and interior, immaculate turbo wheels, runs and drives fine, tax till end of month.
I'll try and get some pics sorted in next few days.
Any help is much appreciated.

900's are great cars, but unfortunately I cannot see it being worth £500 plus without an MOT. I agree that it too good to scrap, but sadly cars of this age are often worh more in parts. UK Saabs website would be a good place to start, and it's free to advertise so you could see if it generated any interest.

Appreciate that thanks.
Is Marlinspike a homage to Tintin by chance?

Also try saabscene and saabcentral classifieds as well as carandclassictrader or whatever it's called...

Agree may not be worth much but if the rest of the car is in goodshape a trader might fix it up and sell for a profit. it might be worth 2k+ with the rest of the welding done.

Don't scrap or part, please frown

OK, I haven't got round to putting this on the Saab sites. It needs to go by Monday, tax up on Tuesday and he's moving Wednesday. Anyone want to drive it away for £200 otherwise it gets collected by the breakers. Its in Surbiton

And messaged a friend in south London who might be interested in parting it out.

How much MOT/tax left?

Thanks NCT. It is a genuine car and I don't want to se it go. I couldn't sleep last night with the dilemma over whether I should just park it at my mums cover it in tarpaulin and wait a few years until I can afford to do anything. I have more than enough on my hands with my old Alfa though and would rather see it taken to a good home.
MOT ran out 6 weeks ago, Taxed til tomorrow. Starts and drives fine.

No problem! Sorry to hear it was beyond saving, good that it will give up parts to keep others on the road (if it has a good bottom hose I would be interested! wink )
