I've been looking for a 9-5 Aero for a little while and a friend mentioned that his friend heppend to be selling.
It's a 2004 '53' Aero estate auto (paddles), silver, black leather, nav, FSSH, 90k and appears to be in very good condition from the pictures. He's emigrating so needs to sell in the next month.
How much do you think I should offer?

Has it got the Aero Lux Pack as well...?

I'd doubt he'd get offered much more than £3k as a trade-in (if that in todays climate) so start from there (or even lower if your feeling cheeky) and see if he bites smile

If it's got the Lux Pack it will be a good deal at anywhere around £3k-3.5k.

Many thanks AP, I'm sure he'll have a fit if I offer 3k redface Do you have any comparables?
I was thinking around £4k - but he started at 6 !! I haven't made an offer yet, but I did point him to AutoTrader and he's come down to 5. It doesn't have the LUX pack and doesn't have full leather (which surprised me). But you've got me thinking that 4k is a bit strong...

It does have leather, but it's the part leather like the Vector has.

ALL Aero's were full leather, so either, it's NOT an Aero, or the seats have been changed, and that combined with not having the Lux Pack means he's living in dreamland with even £5k at that mileage......even £4k is a bit steep with an iffy spec.

No, private sale from a chap who was posting on here.

I think I got really, really, really lucky, right time right place.

Saw a car I wanted in the PH classified that was in my town (E39 540 touring) on the wednesday. Put the ad up on the thursday, sold the Saab on the Saturday and bought the beemer on Sunday!! Sounds like a Craig David song smile

To be honest I was expecting to get nearer 5 and maybe a bit less than that. Damn shame seeing as I paid nearly 9k for it 19months ago eek

Saabs are not investment cars that's for sure.

The car you describe in the OP is worth no more than 5k I reckon; that's if it's just been serviced, had 4 very good tyres, it's a good day and the wind is behind you smile

ps....E39 touring's are better thumbup

Yes indeed on all counts! I would much prefer an E39 but it'd have to be a 530i sport tongue out and would be a stter for my budget (upto 5k). I've had a couple of 9-5s and would be happy to have another, but I very aware of the big D!

What you on about!

You would get a cracking E39 touring for £5k you will just have to be prepared to travel a bit.

for example

Bith sold but you get the idea.

Have you driven one Foxy?

i borrowed a 95 aero estate with flappy paddles from work - it shifted for a big car but it had a serious sub 25mpg drink problem! Also the auto box was completely disconnected from the car, flappy or not.

Howdy Paul biggrin
I've had two 9-5s, but both manual 2.0lpt. The auto wasn't a particularly attractive proposition - I'd live with it if the price was right, but appreciate your comments.

How's the race budget looking? wink

You can't gauge real world mpg on a 'borrow and drive like you stole it' drive rolleyes

I average 26-28mpg for a daily commute within the M25, and can easily see mid 30's on a run, which is pretty good for 250hp/350Nm and an auto in a car weighing 1600kg+.

I'd like to know what you mean by disconnected?
I've owned one for almost 5 years years now, and I still think it's one of the best fwd autogearboxes, and suits the car very well.

Most of my commute was on motorway and at rush hour so i would have a hard job to "drive like its stolen" rolleyes

The fact that as i slowly put my foot down, about 10% throttle travel, it would immediately kick down . It would also change up gear with another 1000rpm to the read line. The flappy paddles just replicated the above. Hence my term disconnected

Sorry fanboy
