Anyone know about this, Service Theft Alarm error message, have changed the batteries in the fobs but its still there, someone said it could be the battery in the main alarm which cannot be changes, its a new alarm, this for obvious reasons I am not keen to do.

Thanks Mark

I get the same on my 9-5 - it's the back up battery in the main unit. On the 9-5 it's a solder out the old battery, solder in a new one - I just haven't got round to it yet. Apparently it runs down so much it will start giving the alarm false activations in the end.

Try saabscene as it's a common fault.

Good luck!

Under the nsf wheelarch is the alarm module, in it are two sanyo ultra longlife litium batteries.

At some point Saab received a duff batch of batteries, they are now going flat hence the error message.

If you get caught out just lock the car with the key, no deadlocks or alarm, so no alarm siren through the night.

To replace the batteries is easy.....read this

If your feeling rich go to the saab dealer , they will throw your alarm module away and replace it at bigbucks.

I ran mine for over two years with this error, just locking it on the key.

It could be one of several things:-

Batteries in Alarm Sounder
Break Glass Sensor
Tilt Sensor
Door Sensor

You won't know unless oemone plugs a TechII diagnostic unit in.

The good news is that it's not fatal, everything will work except that part that is faulty (immobiliser still works)

My car has been giving this message for over 3 years, I just reset it each time on starting the car (mine is the break glass sensor as diagnosed by a TechII). Yes my Sounder did go AWOL and just randomly go off, I just removed it from the car (I have a 200k mile 9-5 so value is pretty insignificant), the rest of the circuit works fine, just no noise on alarm activation, the immobiliser still works.

Just an update to this issue.

Since my dad sold me his 9-5 (partly because of this 'service theft alarm ' message) I have had the message show up every day for two years.

Until today!

The fix was very complicated so i will write it in list form.

1: Press your unlock button on the keyfob half a dozen times.
2: see if it is fixed.

you can have the siren programed out by the dealer which is much cheaper but this may effect your insurance
