I know its not a huge milestone for our cars but yesterday the 9-5 estate clocked up its 100,000th mile whilst wafting along on the m25 (surprisingly!).

Its the first car ive ever taken over the 100k mark and I thought it was quite exciting, the wife thought I was mad and now believes its going to blow up and we need to get a new carrolleyes

Here's to the next 100kthumbup

Hope you all have a nice christmas

As the Prof says 100k is just run in! my 9-5 is just over 197k, I passed 100k about 4 years ago. The list of things that went wrong since 100k is remarkably small (other than normal servicing), but here's a taster with some costs:-

New Battery 105k
Replace Trailing Arm Bushes 114k (£270)
Crank Position Sensor (CPS) 144k (£60)
Cylinder Head Gasket 189k (£300)
Turbo Bearings 189k - first Turbo change on the car (£300 did myself with a neighbour)
Crank Position Sensor (again) 191k (£60)

A couple of things have stopped working, Alarm Sounder and Heated Front Seats

So just keep getting it reglarly serviced (plenty of Synthetic Oil) and you'll have another 100k easily

Cheers guys,

I Know its only just run in ! (second Saab)

Ive had the car since Aug 07 and have completed the last 30k in her,The only time I was let down was in Barcelona of all places with a failed crank position sensor.

I see you have had a couple davidy are they a weak point?

I had the sump off when I bot the car and only use synthetic oil now so many more happy trouble free miles to come ( touch wood !)

i want an aero

i would always carry a spare di and cps in the boot. the rescue service can always get you going again if it's one of them likely suspects. mine now has 150+k on her now

I'm on my 6th Saab, and all were over 100,000 when I bought them. My current one has 119k on it - hopefully a long way to go yet biggrin

My first CPS last 144k miles, the second about a third of that! Yes they are a weak link, my second one does actually run and will start the car, but it misfires occassionally, so it's in the boot. I also have a spare DI cassette as well, the first failed at 78k miles, and the replacement was replaced under the Saab recall at about 128k miles so I kept the previous one as it worked!

My car has never had the sump off, and oil has only been changed at 12k miles, excluding the forced oil change from the turbo replacement, but then the oil is only n for approx 5 months due to my relatively high annual mileage.

You guys are probably all talking about petrol engine's?

I recently traded in a 3.0 Tid V6 9-5 with 120k on it. My plan was to run it a lot longer, but when the fuel pump went at 108k, followed by suspension bushes and suspension drop legs (front suspension)shortly afterwards, it very soon started to feel like a high mileage car, and a financial libility. That said, withy the trade in value, someone will have got a lot of car for very little money!

The replacement wasn't another Saab, went down the route of an S Type 2.7 Tid Jag. Again my plan is to take it well beyond the 100k mark, but that won't happen for a few years yet. Engine a lot smoother than the Saab.

That said, I still have an 05 Aero rag top with 55k on the clock, and it drives like a dream, no intention of changing it for sometime to come. Mileage shouldn't be an issue as during the week it is only driven by the wife around town only resulting in about 10k / year.

Yes

The Saab diesels don't have that good a rap, the 3.0 is bit unreliable, fuel pump/dropped liners/etc and the 2.2 just sounds like a tractor!

From what I've heard on the Saab forums, the 3.0TDi's either seem to be a joy or a nightmare. Similar torque to an Aero, though the mpg is poor for a diesel. I did want one at one time, but was put off by too many stories of big problems. Probably why Saab dropped it.

I'm crossing my fingers at 139k on my 2002 3.0 tid. Straight through mot last week and still goes really well. Just a starter motor and a water pump since buying it on 59k.

1999 Viggen cab passed 150K last week, of which 120K is mine over the last 6 years!

maintenence cost minimal, problem with soft top traced to shear pin (not the replacement rams quoted at over £440 by local stealer).

Took out the AA warranty in Oct, then in Dec claimed for the unit which holds the spark plug, £240 repaid by AA, cost of warranty £99 for a year. Result!

LOL...it's a sad sad man that manages to take a photo of his dash at exactly the point that the mileage changes over laugh

My 9-3 2002 2.2 TDI is on 111k and sailed through it's MOT yesterday (huge sigh of relief!) Fingers crossed that I'm not in for an expensive year with it from now on!

Amateurs indeed!

Only joking - my 9-5 aero is just about to turn over to 90k next week and will be on 100k by the summer, although I am looking for something else in the meantime.

167000 miles on my c900 T16S with original engine, turbo, & gearbox (crosses fingers and touches wood!)

Had a loaner 9-5 that was 200k up and it felt fine (although it smelt of crayons hehe )
