My alarm just went off for the first time since i owned the car and i just wondered if it was letting me know i had left the lights on??

i would say the service theft alarm batteries are fubbered, a new unit is £180

The service theft alarm warning has apparently been displaying for over a year, I should get that taken care of :P

The alarm has not gone off again since i got some juice back in the battery.
