I was taking my radiator out the other day to inspect it and flush it out and had to remove the distributor cap to do so.
I found the rotor arm was burnt through and crumbled in two when I touched it.
Does anyone have any idea why this might happen?

Old age.

Have changed mine once or twice now and she has always run better for it.

Don't scrimp by just replacing the rotor arm, get a new distributor cap at the same time.

Like Chris,
I have had to replace mine on ocassion.

Thought i was going to have to do it again, as for the lest little while the car has had a small misfire under high boost when warm. Was just the plugs in the end but i popped down to my local Saab garage (less than .5 miles from my house) and they wanted £17 for one! Elkparts saved the day (and sent me a free pen and hand warmer as well) and i got both dizzy cap and rotor arm for under a tenner IIRC.
