I know Parkers aren't always the most accurate on price, but technical figures should (SHOULD) be finite surely?

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?de...

Quotes the old 4 Speed 9-5 2.3HOT Estate Auto really take 14.9 secs to get to 60?

How reliable are these autos, are they generally seen as quite reliable and long lasting. Will be looking at the bottom of the market with about 100k on them, if that influences the answers.

Doesn't sound right, my old mildly tweaked lpt auto did it in 8.
4 speeds a great box, stronger, smoother and more reliable than the 5 speed in later cars.

Don't know much about the early autos.

But I think the auto's 0-60 time is between 7-8 seconds.

Its all about the midrange though!

But I'm sure you want more than ~£2.5k for it don't you? Looks loverly otherwise.

It's a Parkers mistake, was highlighted on a few of the saab forum's ages ago, and a few informed Parkers but, as yet, they still haven't corrected it......rolleyes

The Asin-Warner auto's are pretty good and fairly robust, but the ratio's on the 4-speed auto arn't brilliant, which is why they brought the 5-speed out, which is much, much better gearbox and results in a smoother drive with better fuel economy and it has a higher torque rating as well over the 4-speed.
I wouldn't have a 4-speed auto Aero.

I'm on the hunt for a 9-5 Aero estate at the moment. Is yours up in the classifieds?

Feel free to PM.

Cheers,

Chris

PM sent!

Very tasty one just appeared in the classifieds

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/753147.htm

I priced mine at more than that even though it's not as highly specced and has a tad more miles on it. But then, I'm not emigrating to Scandinavia and don't need to sell it any time soon!

Manual, facelift Aeros, in good nick are pretty hard to find. I know from experience when looking for mine, drove a couple that were advertised as mint. They were on the verge of falling to bits!!

Went and got a 2001-Y Aero HOT auto today. Dark blue 110k and paid just shy of £2k. Very pleased, midrange performance on kick down from 30 onwards is more than I expected!

When I double lock it it beeps the horn, which is a bit annoying in a quiet neighbourhood, is it easy to stop this?

It might be a dealer/independent(with gadget) required job - I'm sure the people on Saab Central will know:

ETA HAve a look through this thread:

Yes, easy sorted with Tech2, either at a dealer or a Tech equipped Saab independant.

After 2 days of ownership have had a few of pleasant suprises:

1 - Its quicker than I thought it would be
2 - Parkers reckon it will cost £430 on VED in 2010 its actually only £300
3 - Found a phone number for the previous owner in the docs, New turbo, new throttle body, new Idle valve and had sump cleaned, all quite recently, among other bits.

Fingers crossed I've bought a good-un.

Only down side is I haven't really seen the brighter side of 20mpg yet. Too much use of that almost endless boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooost!

Two ways to get rid of the bleep when locking

1) Re-program with a Tech II
2) Remove Alarm Siren - the immobiliser will still work, as will the hazard lights when the alarm is triggered but it will be silent - one of the solutions to the failed 'sealed' battery issue in the Alarm Siren
