i cant edit the title but i'd be interested in the 230bhp pre 2001 models only

I am currently looking to change my Volvo 850 T5 for something newer and came across these on Autotrder at a good price

i'd be interested in either saloon or estate with autobox

thank you all in advance smile all feedback greatfully recieved as always

from what i've seen on autotrader £3k will buy a 70k 2000 (230bhp) model but my budget isnt limited to that amount...i'd deffo want a pre 2001 model to avoid the new tax groups coming into play next year

If you are looking for an auto, then you really want a 250hp facelift car from Sept 01 onwards that has the much better 5-speed auto gearbox.

sorry i didnt realise the 250bhp ones where 2001+ and i cant edit the title now

whatever car i go for next it will be pre 2001 due to the new tax groups , so i guess that's the 230bhp ones?

i'd be happy with that...my Volvo 850 T5 is 225bhp and love the performance i just want a newer car

as for the auto, my volvo is 4 speed and i'm happy with it,so the saab 4 speed auto should be ok with me

But the Volvo might not have the big 'gap' in the ratio's that the Saab has....which is why the 5-speed is much better.
In fact most things about the 2001 facelift Aero's are worth having way more than a few hundred quid a year it cost to tax......better brakes, better suspension, better seats etc.
But, if that's your decision, there are plenty to choose from.
Remember that pre-02 Aero's were poverty spec as srandard (incl. base audio) with most toys on the extra cost options list, so there will be a big difference in spec of those for sale....so compare carefully.

I've had a 52-plate Aero (5-sp Auto) for 6 months now, can't rave about it enough.

And as the VED increases appear to have been postponed by a year, might be worth snapping up the later model.

Another who is happy with his Aero. -53 plate MY04.

Just got 36mpg on a (slow) run along the M4. Not bad for 250bhp car...

I have a good one that I may sell. I just don't know what it's worth.

54 reg
80k miles
Full Saab & specialist history
Excellent condition other than a few marks to the paint on the roof and the odd stone chip/mark on alloys, usual stuff.

Spent the first 3 years of it's life on the motorway then I've had it for just over a year, only put 8k on it. Just had a big service (£450) and new tyres too!

Doesn't have the lux pack options though.

Hehehe.... very nearly went for the 310bhp upgrade on the 850R when I had it.

The Saab is a better car inside but the T5 engine, it has to be admitted, has BAGS more character... enjoy... just don't watch the mpg to hard :-)

thanks
for me fuel economy isnt an issue as i only do 5k per year in my cars, i had been looking at ALL sorts of thirsty big comfy motors inc V8 BMW's and straight six supercharged jags but at the end of the day i love my trusty old Volvo and cant bring myself to sell her paperbag

i did have a look at the saabs at the Ace Cafe Norske meet yesterday and yes they are very nice cars from what i saw

thankyou again everyone
